Monochord Table Big Mom
Design
The sounding body is placed on a stable, demountable rack and has a surface area of about 200 x 70 cm; lying surface is made of massive ash or spruce wood, rack and body frame are made of service tree, walnut or cherry wood; the bottom side of the sounding board is curved and made of resonance spruce; 47 strings on four bridges.
The instrument is attuned to C# (3 double C#, 10 C#, 10 G#, 20 C# minor + 4 Tambura strings). Each pitch can be played independently thanks to a sophisticated arrangement of strings and thus offers an incredibly diverse variety of sound designs. The transmission of sound to the lying surface is impressively powerful. Here, sophisticated function meets the finest aesthetics of simple shapes and high-quality materials.
